I sat in church back home and listened to their stories of how god helped them personally…
A friend wrote me a letter saying that he had gotten out of jail and was at a half-way house and had found god.
He had been detained in California for selling acid. I had returned to our home state with his belongings.
His father called me some time later saying he was worried that his son had become part of a cult and could I please go retrieve him. I agreed.
I arrived two days later and found him at a Victory Outreach where he had quickly become a director after exiting county jail.
I let his family know that he was doing fine but that I would stick around to monitor the situation.
I attended the church there out of curiosity.
I became nearly broke after a few weeks and was sleeping in my car down by the beach.
I decided to give prayer a try one day as I drove through town. I was cold at night in the car.
I felt a bit foolish but asked for a sleeping bag. Almost immediately I found myself turning the car into a residential area. I came upon a yard sale. The yard sale consisted completely of three items; two freshly cleaned sleeping bags and an antique sewing machine. I paid five dollars for both sleeping bags.
I was putting applications in everywhere during the day but it was pretty desperate there. I decided to pray again for a job and somewhere to stay. I found an ad for an apartment manager and walked in off the street. The general manager hired me on the spot. I was now the manager over two huge complexes and was provided a free two bedroom, all bills paid apartment, and, received a weeks pay in advance.
So at this point in the story it would seem that a miracle had taken place, hallelujah? No. Not yet.
I became active in the community there and would take the kids, with their parent’s permissions, to se some of the outreaches programs where they put on plays about avoiding gangs and drugs. But this was still not the miracle.
One night as I lay on the floor in my huge empty apartment on my sleeping bags, I dreamt I saw two eyes open in the dark in front of me. They studied me and looked deep inside of my soul.
One Saturday morning my phone rang. It was a tenant who’s crapper had failed. The maintenance men were gone for the weekend so it was up to me.
As I worked on the guys toilet I turned for a moment and was shocked that the guy was standing behind me watching. I was shocked because I never "felt" his presence. There was a cold emptiness about him. A void.
He walked away and I heard him talking to his step-daughter. Then they went into a bedroom and closed the door. I heard things that didn’t sound right. Then they exited the room. I was alarmed but I didn’t want to assume anything on so little evidence and I just wasn’t sure.
I finished the job and was leaving when I saw her sitting on the couch staring at me with the saddest look. Then I was sure. I decided to act and called the police.
They came and interviewed the girl and found that she had been being abused terribly for some time.
That night I thought about everything that had happened. As I lay there, I saw the eyes open again and then slowly close. I knew in my heart that the miracle had been served and that it was time to go home.
The miracle was never for me or about me or my friend. It was about one kid who was in terrible trouble.
So as I sat in church back home and listened to the testimony, I wondered, "Why do most Christians think that it’s all about themselves?"
Because when you are a "baby" Christian, meaning newly saved, it is all about you. As you grow in the word, you begin to understand that being a Christian means being a servant of God.

1. Exactly how old does a car have to be?
2. Is it optional or can I just get regular insurance?
3. Does it cost more to insure an older car, even if it’s a piece of crap, but still runs really great?
Thanks!

Some people thought the first paragraph wasn’t intriguing enough but I like it so see if the 2nd paragraph wants to makes it better/work.
And the two brackets in first paragraph instead of using "Mm" which one should I use?
It’s a short story horror, One out of my 6+:
What a doll
Larissa Collins was turning thirteen today and instead of having a party or spending time with friends she agreed to go to a little town in Brighton, half an hour from where she lived. Her grandparents Eloise and Lou Collins remembered an antique store they always use to take their son too. “Larissa! Put your hand back in the car” ordered Eloise, Larissa did as she was told, always did. “What if a car came speeding by and took your arm with it” Larissa just said “Mm” {Larissa just made an agreeing sound}
{“Mhm” Larissa sighed} and put her head closer to the window. She loved the cold wind through her hair and on her skin, her mother would stick her whole upper body through the window, she missed her so much, even though her memories were fading. Her grandmother was right of course, the car would take you with it, just as it did her daughter in law, Sarah.
They arrive at the antique store just after 3:00.
Larissas parents died when she was just seven in a car accident, even though her mother was asking for it. Sarah was decapitated by a passing car, she had half her body out the window. John didn’t hear anything, he {just} felt the warm spits of blood on his face. The rest of her body slithered out they window and he let out a never ending scream just before crashing into a nearby tree, the branch broke straight through the glass and pierced his head. A tear dripped from his eye and he was gone.
Of course Larissa was never told what really happened.
I wanted to put in a bit more but it’ll just give away the "real" main part which has nothing to do with the mother and fathers death
Sooo what ya think? This is basically my first real story..and I’m 14 (If you’d like to know..)
Sorry made some spelling mistakes :s
For the second to last line:
Instead of "A tear dripped ect."
Tears of blood dripped down his face.
?
Oops yeah forgot the d…
Ok I listened to the feedback and I changed it a little
But still people tell me what you think of this draft..
I like it.
Its got a good feel so far, if its a horror. Nice and graphic. I love the way you used the word slithered. haha!
For the "mm"s I suggest you just use "yeah", or "okay". Lets the reader know Larissa is just saying something because she was being spoken to, not because she wanted to talk or elaborate.
For the "just" I would put "only". He only felt the spits of blood on his face.
I just have one little pick.
"They arrive at the antique store just after 3:00"
You’ve gone from past tense to present tense and it doesn’t fit, you know?
You should probably put something like, "They arriveD at the antique store just after three"
But other then that, its really good. Keep it up and good luck.
Hope I helped. And thanks for helping me.

When my dad passed away he left me his Antique Car which I loved it meant a great deal to me and was in good condition it could have used a new paint job but other than that it ran I drove it for years and kept repaired when needed but my brother in law was suppose to move it for me when i moved into my new home because something had happened to the trans misssion and I was going to have it repaired but instead he destroyed it, he said a tree fell on it and it was flattened but he has no proof of what was done to the car I think he is lieing he was offered a lot for the car and I think he sold it but I have the title in my name it broke my heart when he did this to me I really loved that car.Can anyone help me I really want him to pay for the car because it was not his property to destroy it belonged to me.
1) You have the Title–in your name– so whatever he did to your car is/was illegal !!
2) Talk to your local Police Dept and get some advice.
3)Your Title should have a VIN Identification number on it so maybe it could be tracked.
4) Write or call the DMV and ask them what action you should take.
Sorry for your troubles !!!

Classic cars for sale are big business these days. There is no shortage of unscrupulous people who will take your money and vanish!
To be a knowledgeable buyer, the biggest chunk of your time will be spent in what I call the homework or prep stage. Probably 70 percent of your time will be spent studying classic car sale information, researching, and consulting with trusted friends or experts as to the authenticity and details of the car. After you have done your homework, the rest is a simple buying transaction. The more prepared a buyer, the smoother and faster the transaction.
What this means is you will need to invest the necessary time and money to thoroughly research what you are buying. It is all about the preparation. The one thing that rings true is either you are going to spend the time or money to investigate your potential purchase or you hire an expert to handle the transaction for start to finish.
Three Tips to Prevent Classic Car Scams
1. Know What You Want to Purchase
The top details for clarity are knowing what you are looking for, how much you have to spend, and how far you are willing to travel. Buying a vintage classic or muscle car is an exercise in search and process of elimination. Think of yourself as a modern day Sherlock Holmes. There is no use in looking at a show car if you can realistically only afford a project car or a weekend cruiser.
Because the internet has made our world smaller, do not waste a buyer’s time if they live halfway across the country and you are only willing to buy locally.
Check the NADA price guide so you have a ballpark of what the car will cost depending on condition. If the deal is too good to be true, (Are you really going to buy a 1969 Camaro in great condition for $5000?) then it could be scam. If you contact the seller and they insist on wiring a deposit, then you will know for sure it is a scam. Guaranteed you will never see the cash again!
2. Research Your Vehicle
Buying a classic car has become serious business. Classic cars for sale are now selling for what I paid for my first house. Would you buy a house with out having a house inspection? Probably not. The same goes with buying a muscle car for sale. Do your research. Get as much information as you can about the make, model, and year, and options of the car. The more educated you are about the car, the better you can negotiate if needed. And it also indicates to the seller that you know what you are talking about.
The internet makes it easy to do research. Join a forum that is focused on the type of car you are looking to buy. I know serious car collectors who will not buy a car unless they bring in an expert or guru to look at it first. If it is good enough for them, it is probably an idea you may want to consider. There nothing wrong about not knowing everything about a car. You definitely want to avoid paying for what looks like a highly desirable car only to find out that it is a clone.
Many people have saved themselves thousands and even hundreds of thousands of dollars just by paying an expert to inspect and document a car. If the car is extremely desirable and rare, the old adage of you can pay me now, or you can pay me later applies. Either hire an expert, or talk with someone you trust who can help you look at the car. Online car forums and clubs are great resources for this type of information.
3) Make Sure All Your Questions Get Answered
Do not be afraid to ask questions. Having clarity gives you the confidence to make a buying decision. This serves many purposes. Before you physically look at the car, contact the seller and ask the important questions.
Here are a number of key questions to ask the seller even if the details are not mentioned in the ad (This can double check the seller’s credibility that they really do know the details about their car). I find asking questions in categories is useful in organizing the information.
Engine, Drive Train, Options
* What is original to the car? (Engine, transmission, differential)
* Drive train specs (hp, engine size, rear axle ratio, transmission type)
* Options - A/C PS, PB, Vinyl roof, trim packages
* How does it run?
Body and Interior
* Interior color and condition?
* Body panels original, any accidents, frame damage, paint and body panel condition?
* Currently inspected and roadworthy or project restoration car?
* Mileage and any known mechanical problems?
Title and Price
* Does the car have a “clean” title?
* What is the asking price or at least a ballpark figure
How does it look?
* Can you get detailed digital pictures? If so, get A LOT so you can see every detail.
* Send to experts or post on a forum for opinions. The seller may think the car is all original, but may not know. An expert can spot the obvious.
Logistics
* Will they allow you to bring in an expert, or independent third party to
inspect and verify the car (If not, RUN from the deal. Do not walk)?
* Is there a place locally where you could arrange to put the car up on
a lift and do a visual and physical inspection?
This may sound like a lot of work, but it is fundamental for a solid transaction where you get exactly what you want.
The best piece of advice I can offer is to remember you are in control of the
transaction. If there is something that does not feel right about the car or the seller or anything related to the transaction, let it go. This includes being pressured by a seller to make a quick decision. If a deal is going to work, it needs to be natural and a win-win situation for both parties. There is normally something fishy going on, if a seller starts to hard close a deal. There is no use in trying to force a deal to work from either party.
