Auto Accident Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Heres the case. I left my light on green yesterday and a ford f 350 pulling an antique corvette in perfect condition nailed me. Pretty much took the front end of my car off. I was taken in an ambulence to the ER. Mentally i was fine from the get go, but i suffered a broken collar bone. Which sucks cause they say absolute complete healing time is 12 to 18 months. The good news is i wont be down that long.

Where do i go from here. i have talked to my insurance company and they are supposed to contact me tomorrow. So i want to take some suggestions.

Do i get a lawyer?
What i’ve been told so far is to go after lost wages because i will be out of work for a while, go after medical bills(er, xray, consults). I need a car now cause mine isnt coming back.

Just want many to run with this and give suggestions…
Remember that i have suffered injuries, and my car is gone.

if you need your problems addressed ASAP, you may consider using your insurance coverages to handle this matter. If you had Collision Coverage, your vehicle will be taken care of to get you going and if you had PIP/MEDPAY coverage your insurance company can start paying some of your medical bills
If you were not at fault, your company with subrogate(attempt to recover money from the other persons insurance). This will happen for the physical damage and if your state allows for the medical bills

You can also file a claim with the other persons insurance company for physical damage and bodily injury but they cannot settle with you until they investigate the accident.

Getting a lawyer is a personal choice. If you feel you are not being treated fairly or prefer someone to negotiate your injury settlement for you then this is an option. The cost though is a good percentage of your settlment.

With the nature of your inj, there may be quite a bit involved if you need to be out of work some time(treament, rehab, limited work). You should speak to your insurance company in detail about the situation. You pay premiums to them and they can give you advise as to whats in your best interest

  1. definitely go for a lawyer! in your situation, since you’re not at fault (right?), a good lawyer will be able to win you compensation for damages and lost wages, maybe even pain and suffering. don’t sting out on a lawyer! just my two cents.

  2. Always get a lawyer. You have rights that immediately need to be protected. Do not talk to the insurance co. again until you do. You will be putting yourself at risk every time you talk to them from here on out!

  3. yes you are going to be needing a lawyer so you do not get nailed again later….please do your research on lawyers in your area…contact the bar assoc for a ref and listen to people and by all means…google his name before you hire him!

  4. With your car, your insurance company will fight on your behalf with the other car’s insurance company and you will be compensated with the insured value of your car.

As with the other stuff, as it is the other car’s fault, you will need a lawyer to fight, you would be entitled to time off work and pain and suffering.

I broke my collar bone 4 years ago, am still unable to do certain manuevours withou it hurting and theres still a lump

  6. Yes that’s the first thing you need to do is get a lawyer. They will take care of everything and make sure you get the money that you deserve due to your injuries and car loss. The insurance company will try to offer as least as they can but the lawyer will fight to get you the most (that is if you are willing to refuse the insurance company’s low offer). This will take some time but in the end you will end up with your hospital bills paid, time off from work paid and your car also paid off and of course a check for your pain and suffering.
