I worked for an Insurance Agency out on Henderson Blvd. (across the street from antique shops)in Tampa, Fl. This was for about three months, 110 days. I was let go, because the owner told me he lost 50% of his book of business. Also, he told me he had no position for me in sales and that I needed to go into sales from customer service. I had just been promoted to doing re-writes that morning in the meeting. Now he hasn’t answered the adjudication form(They make the decision if I’m to receive benefits, or not.) for unemployment. Additionally, he told me that he was going to send me a written recommendation. I’m baffled at this ! I’m probably going to lose my car, since I can’t make the payment. I have been searching for jobs left and right.. Is this ethical what this guy is doing ? I think an attorney might be able to help me here. I feel embarrassed and humiliated. I’m a 2/20 licensed insurance agent, but all the schooling I went through, this guy made me feel like a piece of trash !
If the employer does not respond to the unemployment department within a limited period of time (typically 15 to 30 days) your claim will be approved as filed. (Some states even instruct employers to not return the form unless they intend to contest your claim.) This might delay the start of your benefits slightly (typically it takes 3 to 5 weeks before you see your first check anyway) but even if it does you will not lose any benefits as long as you have been filing your periodic benefit claims on time. Any arrears will be made up with your first payment.
Most lenders will work with you during trying times IF you come to them first and ask. No bank wants to repossess a car even during a brisk economy as it’s almost always a losing proposition for them. As long as they know that you are alive and kicking and are working to resolve your financial crisis and not just a garden-variety deadbeat nearly all lenders will put off extreme measures such as repossessions for as long as possible. If you’ve been a good customer they DO want to keep you as a customer and a bank that cuts you some slack when times are tough is much more likely to catch your future business when times are flush.

Is it worth selling your house and moving into an apartment?
Is it worth telling your children they’ll have to pay for their college tuitions themselves?
Is it worth selling your antiques you inherited from Great Aunt Mildred?
Is it worth selling your car and taking the bus?
Is it worth bypassing the McDonalds and Starbucks to have a sandwich and a cup of coffee at home?
Is it worth saying, "Let’s have a homemade Christmas this year"?
What are you willing to give up to pay for health insurance, even if it’s just major medical? Or to get $100 to pay to see the doctor? Granted, some people won’t need to give up any of this, but some…well, think about it if you don’t have insurance…what do you have that is really more important than your health?
It’s worth having a universal health care system so that many Americans don’t suffer and die because they couldn’t afford early diagnosis and treatment and others don’t go bankrupt because they can’t pay their medical bills.
Those of us who have good employer-provided health care coverage should not be so smug and complacent as to assume that our situations could never change. One thing we shouldn’t have to worry about for the future is not being able to take advantage of the health care that could save lives due to not being able to afford it.

Ok so this is my first. A little unexpected. We are both still in grad school. After rent, bills, food, gas, health insurance, car insurance, co-pay money, etc we have $6,000 left per year. Is that enough for a baby?
It seems like we would need way more. So insurance about $1800 per year on our current plan.
Insurance $1800
Food per month $200 x 12 = 2400
Diapers per month $130 x 12 = 1560
$5760 already and that is nothing extra!
As far as baby stuff my mom and grandma will almost certainly get most to all of it for us. My mom has an antique crib, changing table, hi-chair set she is going to give to us.
My family would help some, but this is our baby and the responsibility falls to us. I just want to make sure that is enough to get by.
I do plan on breast feeding, but obviously that doesn’t last forever!
The crib is fine as far as standards go actually. We have $500 set aside every 5 months for emergency.
I already have a job set with NASA for when I graduate with my PhD and I do a little for them already. Together we will make well over $300k a year so that will be no problem when we get to that stage, it is just now that is a problem.
Me and my man are in the same boat!
Well, just finishing school.
Babies cost between 200 and 300 per month.
That includes everything. New clothes, diapers and food.
That’s obviously not 10 brand new outfits each month..but you know what I mean.
You can count on this for the first few years.
So that’s say 250/month on average = $3000 for the year.
Are you breast feeding? Cause then you don’t have to worry about food for the baby..
Basically, don’t total it up as everything the baby needs forever.
Just total what the baby needs per month, the basics.
Cause the crib, toys, stroller etc will be dealt with before the baby’s even here, since your family will help you.
Plus, clothing wise, think about your baby shower.
People give you clothes of all sizes, plus diapers, and little things. Those clothes will last you a little while.
Don’t forget the unexpected costs too.
Nights out, extra bills, car emergencies.
Try to set aside a bit each month incase of those issues.
Think about what a baby days each day.
Sleeps, eats, cries, poops.
As long as you have these things covered..
You’ll need new clothes (maybe a few extra bibs, recieving blankets), baby shampoo, diaper rash cream, baby powder, baby oil, diapers, and your breast milk..or formula.
Babies don’t cost as much as some people think, it’s more of your TIME that’s spent, not your money.

I guess I’m just looking for a little support here, and personal stories or experiences…
I’m a SAHM. We are just getting by on my fiance’s income, but once his health insurance starts coming out of his check, we will need another income. We share a car, so if I were to go back to work, I would have to take baby to daycare on the bus very early in the morning, and somehow find a way to get my oldest to school. We have some brutal winters here, so it’s not exactly an ideal situation.
However, I do have an antique piece of jewelry that is worth a pretty penny. It’s a family heirloom, passed down to me by my grandmother. Her and I were never close; in fact, she was an alcoholic and abusive to my mother, and I rather resent her for it.
If I sell the jewelry, it will buy me a car, and enough money to put away so that I can stay home with my baby a bit longer. Ideally, I would like to stay home with him until he turns one year old. He still nurses frequently, and I can’t stand the thought of putting him in a place with no boobies for six to eight hours a day.
It pains me to have to sell such a valuable item, but my family is more important. I do worry that I might kick myself down the road, and regret my decision, but I don’t know what else to do.
Anything you have to say on the subject would be appreciated. If you have made a sacrifice for your family, please share.
I should add that my mother would be insanely upset with me if she ever found out that I sold it. I don’t plan on telling her; she thinks it’s tucked away in a safe deposit box (and it is), and she has never asked about it.
It’s my mom that I worry about. I feel like I am betraying her somehow.
oh my gosh, SELL IT! i don’t want to downplay the difficulty of choosing to sell it, but, especially since there is no real sentimental value (given what an arse your gma was), i mean, this is exactly the reason why we hold onto valuable things "until we need them." you need it now. the image of you dealing with the bus and school and all that: ugh. this will change your life in many more ways than the obvious ones. think of the shift in your state of mind after dealing with all these transportation issues on a freezing cold day! i would have done this and more to maintain my status as a SAHM — and i wasn’t breastfeeding OR parenting a second/older child. i would have sold anything i own. nothing is more valuable to me than giving ruby this time in the most secure, stree-free, happy way possible. i am fortunate that all i’ve had to give up are the "little" things — but that could change any day, and i always think about that. i really do NOT see you kicking yourself down the road. on the contrary, from what i know of you, i think you will kick yourself down the road if you don’t sell it to maintain what you’ve set up for his infancy. you can always make money later. you can not recreate his earliest years for him, for his brother, or for yourself. do it! sell it!!!!!!

Heres the case. I left my light on green yesterday and a ford f 350 pulling an antique corvette in perfect condition nailed me. Pretty much took the front end of my car off. I was taken in an ambulence to the ER. Mentally i was fine from the get go, but i suffered a broken collar bone. Which sucks cause they say absolute complete healing time is 12 to 18 months. The good news is i wont be down that long.
Where do i go from here. i have talked to my insurance company and they are supposed to contact me tomorrow. So i want to take some suggestions.
Do i get a lawyer?
What i’ve been told so far is to go after lost wages because i will be out of work for a while, go after medical bills(er, xray, consults). I need a car now cause mine isnt coming back.
Just want many to run with this and give suggestions…
Remember that i have suffered injuries, and my car is gone.
if you need your problems addressed ASAP, you may consider using your insurance coverages to handle this matter. If you had Collision Coverage, your vehicle will be taken care of to get you going and if you had PIP/MEDPAY coverage your insurance company can start paying some of your medical bills
If you were not at fault, your company with subrogate(attempt to recover money from the other persons insurance). This will happen for the physical damage and if your state allows for the medical bills
You can also file a claim with the other persons insurance company for physical damage and bodily injury but they cannot settle with you until they investigate the accident.
Getting a lawyer is a personal choice. If you feel you are not being treated fairly or prefer someone to negotiate your injury settlement for you then this is an option. The cost though is a good percentage of your settlment.
With the nature of your inj, there may be quite a bit involved if you need to be out of work some time(treament, rehab, limited work). You should speak to your insurance company in detail about the situation. You pay premiums to them and they can give you advise as to whats in your best interest
